Earthworks Industries Inc. (the “Company”) disclosed in its news release dated December 22, 2025, that it would not be appealing the termination of the lease between the Company’s wholly owned U.S. subsidiary, Cortina Integrated Waste Management Inc., (CIWM), and the Kletsel Dehe Wintun Nation of the Cortina Rancheria in California.
The Company has spent decades developing a model for future waste handling sites with the highest regulatory and environmental standards. During this time, we also developed a solid base of current contacts, and human resources with current knowledge to assist as we move forward.
While Cortina was our main focus, we also maintained an interest in new technologies and companies who we might contract with for recycling at our locations. Many of those companies are now at pilot stage or operation and offer tremendous investment opportunities.
It was only in early 2024, after a trip to Amsterdam, Brussels and Stockholm, and winning a TSX TOP 50 Environmental Award, that we became aware of the degree of interest in both the sector and the variety of opportunities available. We have a tremendous opportunity in the emerging waste handling industry and will continue to develop our relationships with our contacts and work with companies in sharing knowledge, investing, and participating with on future developments.
Mr. David Atkinson commented, “We have a shareholder base who believe in our vision for a new age of
environmentally sound material handling, recycling and repurposing of our waste.”
The Company will be providing a more detailed update on plans moving forward in the coming weeks.
