Earthworks Industries Inc. (“Company”) is pleased to report that Mr. Richard (Rick) Powell has joined the Board of Directors of the Company. He has 30 years experience in all aspects of the management and operation of a waste management company.
Mr. Powell began his career with Mill Valley Refuse Services in the late 1980’s which ultimately led to him being promoted to General Manager. From 1999 to 2005 he was President of the Ratto Group and besides day-to-day operations of the company successfully expanded the business through competitive bidding and acquisitions. He was responsible for implementing the first single stream recycling programs in Marin, Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake counties, California, and also designed and built the first single stream recyclable processing facility in the North Bay area of San Francisco.
While General Manager of Stockton Recycling from 2005 to 2014, Mr. Powell designed, permitted and was responsible for construction of a 1,000 ton per day recycling and C & D processing facility. In 2014 to 2016 he managed Eel River disposal including day-to-day operations consisting of collection, long-haul trucks, processing, transfer stations, and negotiation of contract extensions.
In 2016, Mr. Powell was rehired by the Ratto Group as general manager to manage day-to-day operations of its large waste operations. He designed, permitted and rebuilt an existing recyclables processing facility and in 2017 negotiated the sale of all of the Ratto Group’s solid waste assets to Recology.
Earthworks looks forward to Mr. Powell’s extensive experience and contacts to assist in the next phase of development at its Cortina, California project, including updated feasibility, permitting, contract negotiation, construction and operations.
