Critical Minerals Recovery
Rare Earth Permanent Magnet Recovery
Why rare earth magnets
Small components, strategic importance
Rare earth permanent magnets are essential to the performance of modern electric motors and precision systems. They enable high power density and efficiency in applications ranging from electric vehicles and wind turbines to robotics, aerospace and defense platforms.
Supply of these materials is highly concentrated internationally, and Western governments and manufacturers have identified domestic magnet supply as a strategic priority. Recovery from end-of-life products offers one of the few near-term opportunities to build allied supply outside existing concentrated channels.
- Electric motors and drivetrains
- Wind turbines and renewable energy systems
- Industrial automation and robotics
- Consumer and industrial electronics
- Medical and precision equipment
- Aerospace systems
- Defense and national security applications
Our plans
Recovering magnet materials from end-of-life and industrial streams
Earthworks is advancing plans to recover rare earth permanent magnet materials from suitable end-of-life products and industrial material streams. As with copper, development is expected to advance in stages — beginning at pilot or smaller commercial scale and expanding as feedstock, technical performance, partnerships and economics are validated.
Get involved
Do you handle motors, drives or magnet-bearing equipment?
Earthworks is interested in speaking with organizations that generate, dismantle, aggregate or source these material streams.
